MARK YOUR CALENDARS! September 12-15, 2024 Albuquerque, NM Sandia Resort & Casino Double Eagle II Airport

The Sustainable Aviation Festival was founded by a coalition of airports, developers, and industry leaders committed to the promotion of renewable energy technologies, products, and services for airports, aircraft, and the aviation industry. Our mission is to promote and advance sustainable aviation efforts by fostering collaboration, sharing knowledge, and advocating for innovative solutions that address the unique needs of individual organizations.

Statement of Purpose

  • Educating conference attendees and the public on the future of sustainable aviation.

  • Bringing together airports, airlines, and aviation service/technology providers to network and form partnerships.

  • Showcasing sustainable aviation equipment.

  • Demonstrating real all-electric, hybrid, SAF flights.

  • Engaging the local community, national aviation resources, and providing positive economic impact.

SAFestival Objectives

The Sustainable Aviation Festival is the premier venue in the United States that combines educational conferences, vendor expos, static displays, and air shows focused on decarbonizing aviation.

The 2024 agenda is directed to deepen the audience’s understanding of how sustainable initiatives can transform the aviation industry. The program will provide attendees with the knowledge to better comprehend the unique issues each sector faces, and the ability to interact with experts and ask questions in a comfortable setting.

This is a must-attend event for any airport executive who is considering integrating electric infrastructure or aircraft at their facilities. You will be able to attend sessions that explain how this transition will occur and meet with manufacturers who will provide this new technology.

Background

Combustion of jet fuel contributes to about 3% of global CO2 emissions and about 6% of the global warming footprint. Being that aviation growth is expected to increase by an estimated 6% per year causing 25% of the total global warming footprint by 2050, it is the responsibility of industry leaders and stakeholders to continue efficiency gains for infrastructure and processes, adopt Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAFs), develop electric and hydrogen-powered aircraft, and continue to explore emerging methods in our efforts to reach Net Zero Emissions by 2050 (U.S. Department of State, 2021b).

Cooperation will determine what is possible, given the complexity of the aviation supply chain. Major advancements in fuel technology require significant changes to infrastructure, and this must be supported by domestic and international collaboration between airlines, airports, legislative bodies, and technology providers.
